How Ricoh empowers digital transformation with our own people

The challenge of transformation in any business is about empowering employees to work in new ways.

At Ricoh, we’ve developed a formula that enables Ricoh staff to reach their own potential, set clear goals and use digital transformation as a pathway for career development. By empowering people to work for their own development, we increase engagement in new ways of working.

Ricoh specialise in helping large businesses to transform their internal teams, whether it’s transforming mail rooms, or developing new business processes, our expertise means that we can move businesses towards their goals. When Ricoh recently took over the print room of a major London business, we were able to move their employees over to our way of working and as a result transform their own skillset.

All the staff moved to Ricoh, and following a consultation period, we created personalised training and development plans for each employee. In some cases, this mean creating the opportunity for an IT Apprenticeship to develop their role, in others, this was assertiveness training. As part of our Ricoh Service Excellence internal methodology, we empower people with continual training and improvement.

Our staff are trained in digital processes, so when we go out to businesses it’s always top priority to empower and train others. For example, in many of our Digital Mail transformation projects, we help develop staff so that employees who previously hadn’t had a customer facing role can contribute much more widely to the business.

The Ricoh Service Bar is a one stop shop for organisations to ask questions, whether it’s a print, facilities management or supply chain question, we evolve people’s abilities, and as such, empower them to do more than they thought possible. Digital transformation is about more than just technology, it’s about bringing people to the forefront of your business, by promoting and enhancing their skills.

Our corporate mantra of ‘People, Process and Technology’ is more than just words. We use it as a lens to work through. Business Process Services are re-imagining how print functionality works within a business. We’re not just stopping at print, but we’ve moved it into other areas of facilities management. This is a people first process.
